Many a times, I wonder if Web designing is more about creativity or technical expertise.  What expert web designers have to say on this? Do they rate these qualities separately or consider them complementary to each other?

Technology wins over creativity –

Though I have little knowledge about web design technology, one thing I am sure about is – without advanced web design technology in place, bringing creativity is not possible. Only HTML could never bring that design flexibilities unless CSS would have come in picture. Designers could never have such a freedom and ease-of-use if CSS had not progressed to CSS3. Web contents would never look so presentable if style sheet language would not evolve.

Style sheet language gets priority

It once again proves that creativity is always backed up by technology upgradation. An interactive, decent-looking website requires a number of essential components that only modern style sheet languages can produce.  Therefore, it is designer’s responsibility to learn the language and apply them on real job.

Therefore, newbie who are just entering into web designing field must know about this computer language. Coming days will only value them who are up-to-date with design languages. Remember, HTML has its limitations when it comes to look and feel of a website. Therefore, having a basic idea about style language is a necessity.

What is style sheet language?

Style sheet language is a computer language that expresses the presentation of structured contents. By using this language you can reuse contents in many contexts and present it on your ways. Different style sheets if put together and logically structured can result in various design functionalities.

CSS – the widely used style sheet:

One such modern style sheet language is called CSS (Cascading Style Sheet). CSS is used to style documents that are written in HTML, XML, XHTML and other mark up languages. It separates out document content from document presentations by applying a set of stylistic rules like fonts, colour, layout etc.

Well, there are a number of other CSS properties used by web designers. After CSS1 and CSS2 had their days, CSS3 is the latest launch that has brought modularization. It means website designers now have greater degree of control in their work.
