If you haven’t heard, Salesforce, a cloud computing and CRM company, has just signed a $689 million dollar acquisition deal with Buddy Media – a social media and marketing company that connects brands to customers through social media. The deal is set to close later this summer. What is even more interesting about this acquisition is that the conversation concerning the sale is much more about a personal response video created by Buddy Media’s CEO Michael Lazerow two hours after he signed with Salesforce.
At the beginning of the video, Lazerow sits quietly, smiling and nodding frequently as he scrolls through a series of slides on his iPad. He shares briefly two near death experiences he had as a child because of a heart problem, how those experiences have helped him to push through times of fear, and his happiness over the sale of Buddy Media and his other accomplishments. The majority of people who see the video seem to empathize with Lazerow, call the video “inspiring,” and are re-sharing the video on many different social media platforms.
In this week’s episode of the Future of Engagement, Murray Newlands discusses Lazerow’s video in greater detail. Newlands sheds light on Lazerow’s reasons for creating the video, talks about what you can gain from watching the video Lazerow made following the sale of Buddy Media.
